The Task
F.L.I. Environmental constructed and lined a landfill leachate
containement lagoon. In order to avoid odours and ingress of rainwater
there was a requirement to cover the lagoon. The cover level had to
fluctuate up and down with the varying leachate levels.
The Solution
F.L.I. Environmental proposed the use of a 1.5mm thickness Polyolefin
Floating Cover.
F.L.I. Environmental's cover design and selection of materials was
critical to the successful functioning of the cover.
F.L.I. Environmental utilised their double 'Y' tensioned plate cover
design incorporating flexible hinges and strategically placed floats
to ensure proper functioning of the cover. Extraction of gas generated
by the leachate was accommodated by F.L.I. Environmental's gas
collection system and rainwater was removed form the cover via a
collection sump and discharge pipe system.
